Eliot Homes for Sale
Eliot is a town in York County. It was once a part of Kittery as the Upper Parish. Eliot separated from Kittery in 1810 and became at town. The town was named after Robert Eliot who was a member of the Provincial Council of New Hampshire or after Reverend John Eliot of Boston who was a friend of General Andrew Fernald the town agent largely responsible for its separation. The 747 ton Elizabeth Hamilton and the clipper ship Nightingale were launched from Eliot as were numerous small craft.
Eliot is a rural community located along the Pisctaqua River and a short drive to Portsmouth, NH.
